WHY OUR GOLD VERMEIL LASTS

That belief is why we choose gold vermeil. Gold vermeil is a higher-quality form of gold-plated jewelry, made with sterling silver rather than an ordinary base metal. But here is something worth knowing: not every piece labeled “vermeil” is made to the same standard.
In the United States, gold vermeil must use gold of at least 10K over sterling silver and contain the equivalent of at least 2.5 microns of fine gold. At INCTIS, we go further. Every gold vermeil piece is crafted in 925 sterling silver and finished with a 5.0 microns of fine gold. That is twice the physical thickness of the U.S. minimum and approximately 1.5 times the required fine-gold equivalent.
Why does that matter? Because a thicker, higher-karat gold layer helps preserve the rich color and shine you fell in love with, so your jewelry can remain part of your life beyond a single season.
Did you know? Gold vermeil standards are not the same everywhere. In Canada, the “vermeil” label does not carry the same 1 micron minimum required in the United States. That means two pieces can both be called vermeil while having very different plating thicknesses and expected wear.
Whenever you shop for gold vermeil, do not be afraid to ask three simple questions:
* Is the base metal genuine 925 sterling silver?
* What karat of gold is used?
* Exactly how thick is the gold layer?
If a brand does not clearly disclose the answers, the label alone tells you very little. We share our specifications because you should not have to guess what you are paying for—or worry that the piece you love was only made to look beautiful for a little while.
